Enjoy fiber artists, classes, refreshments and over 20 vendors! 10am-4pm.

On April 27, the Arts Council for Wyoming County will present the fifth annual Fiber Flurry in the Village of Wyoming.

The fiber festival will offer workshops, a luncheon at the Wyoming Inn, shopping with local farmers, indie dyers and purveyors of beads, buttons and other items of interest to people who love to create with fiber.

Special guest this year will be Laura Nelkin, author of Knockout Knits. Laura will offer a morning long workshop on creating a Novus sweater and will give a trunk show and talk following lunch. In the afternoon, she will be available for a meet and greet and to sign copies of her book.

Workshops will include knitting, crocheting, kumihimo, felting, spinning, embroidery and quilting. Knitting workshops beyond the Novus sweater include Bavarian twisted knitting, how to read pattern charts, use different techniques to make short rows, and add beads to your knitting. Additionally, volunteers are available to teach folks how to knit for a small fee. Crocheters can make a Bohemian pearl wrap bracelet using fresh water pearls. People interested in felting can make a wet felted flower, needle felt a little bird or create a freeform felt windowpane pendant. The day is rounded out with lock spinning, silk fusion, beginning embroidery and using vintage textiles to piece “hexie” quilt blocks.

The Wyoming Village Hall will be full of vendors including, but not limited to: yarn, fleeces, handmade skincare products, handmade garments, beads, buttons, patterns and so much more. But, if that isn’t enough, there will also be the Knit Buffalo’s yarn truck. This mobile yarn truck features many small yarn producers and will be parked out in front of the Village Hall all day.

A delicious lunch will be available by reservation to be followed by Laura Nelkin’s trunk show.

To reserve lunch or a space in a workshop, visit www.artswyco.org or call 585-237-3517. Entry to shopping is free!
